Sheng Tai International Unveils M Tower at Encore Theatre Melaka in Malaysia Day Celebration

September 2023 — Sheng Tai International marked Malaysia Day 2023 with a remarkable celebration at Encore Theatre Melaka, unveiling M Tower, the latest addition to its iconic masterplan, The Sail. The event, themed “Magnificent, Magical, Momentous Moments, Memories,” brought together nearly 500 distinguished guests, including international partners, investors, and local luminaries.

The celebration was graced by Dato’ Leong Sir Ley, Founder, Chairperson & CEO of Sheng Tai International, and Ms Michele Reis, the renowned actress and creative collaborator for M Tower.

A Vision for Melaka’s Future

During her address, Dato’ Leong shared her bold ambition to transform Melaka into an International City and introduced the broader masterplan development known as the City of Hope. The announcement captivated the audience, setting the stage for the highly anticipated unveiling of M Tower.

Dato’ Leong also expressed her appreciation to Michele Reis for her creative input and meaningful contributions to the conceptualisation of M Tower.

Introducing M Tower: A Fusion of Luxury and Indochine Elegance

The highlight of the evening was the official launch of M Tower, an integrated development featuring a luxury hotel and branded residences. The tower’s distinctive Indochine design concept was co-developed by Dato’ Leong and Michele, who worked closely to ensure the project embodies environmentally conscious principles and materials.

Sustainability is a central pillar of M Tower and the wider The Sail development, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and carbon-reduction strategies, aligning with global appreciation for responsible, future-ready architecture.

Michele Reis shared her enthusiasm for the project, noting The Sail’s potential to become not only a landmark for Melaka, but a prominent destination across Asia—one poised to catalyse economic growth and regional investment.

A Night of Celebration, Culture, and Artistry

The Malaysia Day event featured a curated lineup of performances and showcases, beginning with a surprise flash mob during the cocktail session that energised the crowd. Guests were then treated to a fashion show debuting La Voile, a new French brand under the Straits Designers’ Gallery (SDG). The runway featured emerging talents from Sheng Tai F Academy, giving young creatives a platform to shine.

A standout moment of the night was Dato’ Leong’s live piano performance, followed by a heartfelt video tribute honouring Michele’s celebrated film career. As the montage concluded, the screen dramatically opened to reveal Michele onstage, receiving a warm standing ovation from guests.

A Grand Finale Marking a New Beginning

The event culminated with the outdoor launch of M Tower. Joined by Michele and VIP guests, Dato’ Leong officiated the ceremony as the Melaka night sky lit up with a spectacular fireworks display. The moment marked not only the unveiling of M Tower, but also a significant step forward in the ongoing transformation of The Sail and the City of Hope masterplan.

The celebration was a memorable tribute to Malaysia Day and a defining milestone for Sheng Tai International, signalling the company’s continued commitment to shaping Melaka as a destination of culture, luxury, and international significance.
